Our Goals

As the Biomedical Informatics (BMI) Outreach Group of Emory University known as “Open BMI”, we aim to bring biomedical research closer to the community of Atlanta. Through our activities, we also strive to champion diversity and inclusion in the sciences, particularly motivating young girls and underrepresented groups to consider STEM and Biomedical Informatics careers.

We successfully hosted a workshop titled “Does AI recognize me?” at the Atlanta Science Festival, where parents and middle school students engaged with concepts of AI. Our team showcased interactive posters, demos, and presentations, turning complex ideas into accessible, hands-on learning experiences. Upcoming Events

We’re excited about prospective events such as Local School Outreach Packages designed to inform and inspire students about the potentials in the Biomedical Informatics field. Other events include collaborations with local coding clubs, public health students, and sporting communities to showcase the intersection of Biomedical Informatics with various societal aspects.
